Q: Is the acessory compartment large enough for a shoulder rest?

yes. actually there are two accessory compartments. Even if your shoulder rest doesn't fold up (mine does but i used to have one that didn't) it will fit!

Q: Is the interior velvet black or brown?

It’s brown velvet and blue pattern shiny cloth. Actually don’t get put off by it being brown - it’s nice and unusual. I’m very happy with it- good value for the money.
