I would highly recommend purchasing a solid ball head with this device, or a light stand mount that able to be angled. The design is such that if you mount this on a light stand, you only have one orientation available to you, vertical. Like most looking at this item, I purchased this to put multiple speedlights in a single modifier. The device is well built and quite study featuring all metal construction. The mount for the shoe of the flash isn't my favorite design as there's always the possibility of damaging the shoe on the flash. For compactness, I don't mind this. My only complaint is the design of the umbrella holder. The umbrella is held with a friction fit by a metal flange inside the housing. For light umbrellas, this is sufficient, but large umbrellas will start to slide, and over time the pressure from this metal piece will certainly weaken. For the price though, I'll happily just buy another.

I wasn't sure how well this would work for me, but I decided to give it a chance. I can now mount a wireless audio receiver, a light, and a shotgun mic to my camera and it keeps everything neat and tidy. Basically a block of a machined aluminum, it is well sized to allow room for multiple attachments without being overly large. The mounts have a screw lock that allows you to mount cold shoe items sideways from the intended direction, which is handy when you are placing multiple items on top of a camera. Everything mounts very solid and secure. I would, and have recently, recommended this to friends who are already using it. Very good product.

Just like others have reviewed and said it was wobbly, mine was the same way. The only difference was the nut actually came off on mine. This was the first time I mounted it, so I would say build quality isn't all there.edit: The seller contacted me and offered a refund or exchange for another one.I optioned for a refund since before they contacted, I already had another order in on it's way. The second one was great. The 1/4 was secure. Great support staff.

I bought this to hold my 3 speedlights for doing Splash photography. This mount held the speedlights tight and gave the perfect spray of light on the scrim. I would highly recommend. It is well built and pretty hefty for its size.

All metal built, which is great. Add a bit of machine oil to the screws. The 1/4 thread on the bottom is a screwed-in metal adapter that tends to come loose. Tighten it up or add crazy glue. Feels solid enough but dont overload it. I attach a pro flash on the side and a wireless transceiver on the top for better range and to keep it away from Flash's RF radiation.

As one who likes to experiment with lighting for a photo shoot, I want to have a lot of little tools handy. This inexpensive adapter gives me the option of utilizing multiple flash units from the same tripod. I’ve enjoyed this sturdy adapter in those moments when a little extra light from a single direction adds “pop” to an image.

I really cannot complain about this product because the price was reasonable. But strictly speaking, the build quality is not quite 5 stars. It's a bit rough around the edges, literally. And the tension screws are gritty. But it's metal on metal, so much of that is to be expected. Bottom line is that it does the job.

The adjustable plate size is nice when you have a shoe mount that won't fit otherwise.
