Best value, ease of use and IT WORKS!!!!!
This is so effective....even tells you about police radar in the opposite direction of traffic and on side streets. The range is amazing! This unit was cheaper than my last speeding ticket, so very worth it!!!

5 Stars – Outstanding Performance and Accuracy!
I absolutely love the Uniden R3 EXTREME LONG RANGE Laser/Radar Detector. The performance is incredible—it’s extremely accurate, and I’ve been impressed with how well it detects signals from a long distance. My friends are blown away by its reliability and precision. I run it in city mode, and it seems to give the best results in that setting. The built-in GPS with mute memory, voice alerts, and red-light/speed camera warnings are also great features that add a layer of convenience and safety. Plus, the multi-color OLED display is sharp and easy to read. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for top-notch radar detection!

Great radar detector!
Really decent "budget" radar detector. I've had no issues since buying it, and it works really well in cities and on the highway. Really good customization too. Definitely would buy from Uniden again when looking to upgrade!

Excellent Radar Detector
I bought this detector for a cross-country drive from Florida to California. It performed brilliantly, identifying every speed trap along the way in plenty of time for me to adjust my driving accordingly. It also alerted me to speed and red light cameras. In short, it more than paid for itself in saved tickets. It does give false hits on the K band (especially within city limits), but that's to be expected from any detector. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Decent detector, but must be set up properly to maximize effectiveness
Overall this is a strong detector that performs its intended function well. However, there are a few things that you need to do in order to maximize its capabilities. The first and most nuanced is going through all of the settings and tailoring them to the area(s) you'll be driving in. This is a very technical step which will require research if you are inexperienced in using a detector (which I was...and maybe still am). You'll also need to mount the device properly, i.e. as high up on your windshield as possible. There is a noticeable difference between mounting it low on the windshield and higher up near the rear view mirror. If you want to mount it higher up (recommended), the "discreet" double-suction cup that is provided is nearly useless. Its grip is not strong at all and more importantly the vibrations from your vehicle will almost assuredly knock the device off the glass. Potentially my biggest gripe though is with the power cord. This is one of the most inefficient, antiquated electronic objects I have ever seen. For all the technology that is packed into the device itself, the fact that the power cord uses an old telephone jack-style connector is absolutely mind blowing. When I first purchased the detector, I obviously wanted to hide the device when my car was parked, so I had to disconnect it from the power cord. The problem with the cord is that its design is not intended for perpetual plugging and unplugging and, predictably, a piece of the connector broke off after only a month, creating a very unstable connection with the detector. I now have it wrapped in electric tape just to hold the cord in place, and even with that the connection is spotty at best; I find that I constantly have to fidget with it to keep the device on. Most shockingly, in the world of overpriced accessories that we live in, Uniden does not sell a replacement power cord. How this is possible, I have no idea. Two other complaints with its features: the "marking" system does not seem to function the way I think it should. I have marked several locations near stores with automatic doors and the device, while alerting me that a tagged location is approaching, still beeps like crazy as I pass by. Also, the max speed feature is useless. Unfortunately, the max speed alert trumps an actual detection alert, as I recently experienced while passing a cop (detection alert did not start until I dropped below my max speed). Thankfully the cop cut me a break, but this should have been avoided had the alerts been prioritized in a more logical order. Again, this is a fine device but you'll need to put in some effort to get your money's worth.

A great choice
Works exactly as advertised. Their higher end models are capable of letting you know which direction the signal is coming from, and this model is not. Honestly, I found that my response will be the same regardless of the direction of the signal, so it’s worth saving a few dollars. Even on this model, the range is excellent, the false positive filtering is about as solid as I could’ve hoped, and I’m sure it’s saved me some headache already.

Just buy it
The radar detector is great! I highly recommend it to anyone who travels a lot. In town it definitely picks up on false alarms but it can easily be toned out, and to be honest if it saves me from a cop I don’t mind the false alarms because it’s very easy to mute. And it un mutes itself when that band is no longer detected. The suction cup works great! I’m on a trip right now from Omaha Ne to bowling green Kentucky. Half a mile away and around a huge corner and it started letting me know there was a cop. Approximately 25 seconds before I could even see him. If you’re on the fence just pull the trigger you won’t regret it.
