In my opinion the extra blades didn't give me a better, closer shave as advertised
I've been shaving with a Gillette Sensor Excel 2 blade razor for probably 15-20 years now. I've tried every other brand in the stores, and have tried 3/4/5 blade razors, but I've always gone back to the Gillette. In my opinion the extra blades didn't give me a better, closer shave as advertised. Over the years the price of replacement blades have risen to over $20 for a pack of 5 replacement blades. This is the epitome of the "razor blade game". I had seen the commercials for the dollar shave club, but I wasn't interested in getting new blades every month whether I needed them or not. I have a beard, so I only need to shave my neck. After digging around I discovered that Dorco supplied Dollar Shave Club with the razor blades and handles they sold. A few friends of mine were DSC members and raved about the products. I figured for the price I'd give the Dorco razors a try.I'm SO HAPPY that I did! This razor shaves as good, if not better than the Gillette I've been using all these years, at 1/3 the price. I'm throwing away my Sensor razor for good. The handle is plastic, but not a cheesey feeling plastic. The blade attaches easily, and comes off easily. Just shaving my neck I probably get a good 8/9 uses out of each blade. This package comes with 10 blades if I remember correctly, and I've still got 3 blades left. I only shave 3x a week, so I probably have 5/6 weeks worth of shaving before I'll need to buy replacement cartridges (unless the wife uses the razor). I'm extremely happy with this product. My skin is sensitive, and cheap razors will shred my face up, I'll break out, and will cut my face to ribbons. The dorco didn't do that at all. The shave is smooth and clean. No nicks at all, even around the trouble areas like my Adams apple. The shave is good going with and against the grain. I don't have to go over parts of my neck repeatedly to get all the hair shaved. My wife even commented that I looked a little more clean cut after using the Dorco. Why only 4 stars for a product that I'm obviously thrilled with? Well, dorco sells 2 to 6 blade razor cartridges. Any 3 blade to 6 blade cartridge fits any other dorco handle EXCEPT the 2 blade handle. So if you bought a 6 blade system but wanted to try the 4 or 5 blade razor you could just buy the cartridge and it would fit the 6 blade handle you have already. But if you get the 2 blade handle like I have and wanted to try the 4 blade cartridge. I'll have to buy a whole new handle to go along with the new razor blades. While I am thrilled with the shave I get, and the price I'm paying, I did have to ding them for that issue. If you want a GREAT SHAVE at HALF (or more) what you are paying for the big name brand razors, buy this shaving system. You will NOT regret that decision - I promise.

Less drag, easier to handle than 6 blade razors
I am sort of a razor geek and have tried many brands and many multi-blade razors. Here is what I discovered. The sharper the blades the smoother the shave, the better the steel the longer the blades last. (The longest lasting were the Wilkinson Sword blades impregnated with industrial diamond powdered diamond dust) The more blades the more friction.Dorco Twin blades are sharp and has way less drag than the Dorco 5 or 6 blades razors. The Comfort Twin Blade system razors are pretty sharp and last a fair time, maybe 10 shaves per blade. But even when they are dull they are smoother and easier to maneuver than the Dorco 5-and 6 blade razors. I have bought two sets because finding just the replacement blades is getting harder, but the 10 packs with the handle are always around.

Good blade, amazing: never once cut me in almost a year!
These have worked very well. THe sharpness is good, though not quite up to my standard (which is some NOS Gillette Trac II blades that I use when my beard has really grown out too much). What's very impressive is that after almost a year of use, these blades have never once cut me. I think that is because there's a unique feature in the blade design: they metal is curved. The cutting edge is straight, of course, but the metal curves up and away from the face as you move away from the edge. This does two things: 1. it facilitates keeping the blades clear of debris, as only the cutting edges are close together, and everywhere else the blades have an increasingly large gap. and 2. with this curvature, the blades are undoubtedly more rigid, which I bet is why they have not cut me. I'm not totally sure of the physics/engineering here, but I suppose that flat, planar blades can flex a little bit (on a microscopic level) as you shave, and this might contribute to occasional cuts. These Dorcos are not going to flex like that - the curvature of the blade is going to make it extremely rigid in the up and down direction (normal to your skin; nearer or farther from your skin).I recently discovered some aftermarket clone Trac II blades that are even better in sharpness. Currently testing those.By the way, I've always thought twin blade cartridges are the ideal for personal shaving - just like two wheels is the ideal for personal wheeled transport: bicycles or motorcycles. Whatever advantages you get from more blades than two, are offset by higher cost and convenience/comfort. I think the push for more blades is just marketing to allow the manufacturer to sell you more metal! In the worst case: the 3+ bladed shavers will give you less sharpness, because in the heat of price competition, something must give... surely the most costly part of the shaver is the sharpening of the blade. It is more economical to make two blades very sharp, than to make three blades so-so sharp. Which would you rather have? Then, the 3+ bladed shavers are much harder to drag through your beard, and less comfortable. Theoretically, they might give you a closer shave on the first pass... but I've always found them harder to shave with.I just don't buy it. Two blades is perfect.

Great Shave, Great Value
I find that the Comfort Thin II provides nearly as close and comfortable a shave as 3, 4, 5, 6+ bladed razors at a fraction of the cost, and is superior to some I have tried. I prefer the slimmer cartridge to the increasingly thick ones on premium razors as it makes it easier to do detailed work. The lower price point also makes it more economical to change blades more frequently. I would prefer a slightly heavier handle, but the one included is more than serviceable. The premium twin blade market is thin, but this is the best I've found.
