Sweeping and impressive.
I haven’t followed the Yellowstone saga, but recently bought a boxed set of the first 5 seasons. I spotted this, a prequel set in 1923 and before the Dutton family who feature in the present day episodes. It’s a lavish production with some outstanding scenery shots. Ford and Mirren are strong leads in a story which is sweeping. I was interested in the appalling treatment of Native American girls by Catholic nuns. Taken from their homes and forced into boarding schools to have ‘the Red Indian beaten out of them’ I found the story quite harrowing and sadly, so true. This is an epic production which covers a number of themes that resonate and set the scene for the development of Yellowstone. A few extras about the production and a great boxed set of the series. I’ll watch it again at some point.

“This land is ours, and we fight for it. Same goes for great storytelling.”
A man who knows hardship knows a good story when he sees one, and 1923 delivers. The Blu-ray brings Yellowstone’s rich, unforgiving landscapes to life, with visuals so crisp you can feel the cold Montana wind cutting through your bones. Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren own the screen—tough, relentless, and carrying the weight of the Dutton legacy with the kind of grit only the strong survive with. The writing is powerful, the cinematography is breathtaking, and the music carries the soul of the frontier. The struggles of the ranch, the brutality of the times—this is the kind of story that makes men and breaks them. But if there’s one thing I’d call unnecessary, it’s Spenser Dutton’s detour through Africa. Feels like too much time spent away from where the real war is being fought—on the land, in Montana, where the Duttons belong. That said, Series 2 can’t come soon enough. There’s more fight in this family, and I’ll be damned if I’m not here to see it. A must-have for any true Yellowstone fan.

Really good but beware ___ loose ends.
Thrilling and absorbing from start to finish of the 8 episodes. More fallout from 'Yellowstone' and this is another that's welcome to the family created by Taylor Sheridan.464 minutes with English subtitles and bonus features.
